(1)The election of members to a panchayat shall be held on such date as State Election Commission may appoint in that behalf,Provided that-(i)in the case of reconstitution of a panchayat on account of the expiry of its duration of five years such date shall not be earlier than two months or later than fifteen days before the expiry of the duration.(ii)in the case of reconstitution of a panchayat on account of dissolution of a panchayat where the remainder of the period for which the dissolved panchayat would have continued is six months or more than six months such date shall not be later than two months after the date of dissolution of the panchayat.(iii)in the case of reconstitution of a panchayat on account of dissolution of a panchayat where the remainder of the period for which the dissolved panchayat would have continued is less than six months, such date shall not be earlier than two months or later than fifteen days before the expiry of such lesser period, except with the sanction of the State Government which may be given either prospectively or retrospectively.
