197. Naming streets and parks and numbering houses.
(1)A Council may cause a name to be given to any street, parks and may from time to time cause to put up or painted on a conspicuous part of any building at or near each end, corner or entrance to every street, the name by which such street is to be known, and may from time to time cause a number to be affixed in a conspicuous part on the outer side of any building, or at the entrance of the enclosure thereof fronting the street.(2)Any person who destroys, pulls down or defaces any such name or number, or parts any name or number different from that put by the Council shall be punished with fine which may extend to twenty-five rupees.
