Section 7(1) in The Merchant Shipping (Cargo Ship Construction And Survey) Rules, 1974
(1)In every ship of 5000 tons gross or over, a self contained emergency source of electric power shall he provided in a position above the uppermost continuous deck and outside the machinery casings, so arranged as to ensure its functioning in the event of fire or other casualty causing failure of the main electrical installation.
