Section 180(17) in The Punjab Panchayati Raj Act, 1994
(17)Education:. -(a)promotion of educational activities including the establishment and maintenance of primary and secondary schools ;(b)planning of programme for adult education and library facilities ;(c)extension work for propagation of science and technology to rural areas ;(d)survey and evaluation of educational activities ;(e)establishment and maintenance of general hostels, ashram schools and orphanages.
