(1)Every, -(a)Mayor and President; and(b)Member of a Municipality, other than an ex-officio member, shall, before assuming his duties, as a Mayor or a President or as such member, as the case may be, make and subscribe an oath or affirmation of his allegiance to the Constitution of India in the form set out for the purpose in the First Schedule.
