(2)The State Government may by notification in the Gazette extend the provisions of sub-section (1) to any Municipality as defined in the United Provinces Municipalities Act, 1916, with effect from such date as it may direct, and thereupon the references in that sub-section to a City shall in relation to that Municipality, be construed as including references to that municipality.
