Section 19(2) in The U.P. Information Service Rules, 1982
(2)The appointing authority may, for reasons to be recorded/extend the period of probation in individual cases specifying the period of such extension :Provided that, save in exceptional circumstances, the period of probation shall not be extended beyond one year and in no circumstance beyond two years.
