It is not desirable that any police officer should be present when a confession is being recorded except such as may be necessary to secure the safe custody of the accused person when, in the Magistrate's opinion, the duty cannot safely be left to other attendants. In any case none of the police officers who have been concerned in his arrest or in the investigation of the case should be allowed to be present or to be within sight or hearing of the accused.
