2. The appellant sought information about CBSE distinguished Teachers Award along with list of awardees to whom National Award and Best Teacher Award and Mentor Award is given etc. There was no response. Appellant approached the Commission.
Decision:
3. The Commission noticed a tendency to question selection of certain teachers' awards. The 'The Best teacher & Best mentor' awards include a citation, certificate and a shawl, besides the benefit of extension of service by 5 years. Those who failed to get awards, are demanding complete details about awardees including their bio--data. The awardees are apprehending misuse of that data and unnecessary harassment. However, there is a positive requirement of transparency regarding selection of teachers for these awards to dispel the doubts and apprehensions.
