Need To Restore All The Trains Running Between Palakkad And Pollachi After Gauge ... on 4 July, 2019
Seventeenth Loksabha an> Title: Need to restore all the trains running between Palakkad and Pollachi after gauge conversion in Tamil Nadu.
SHRI V.K. SREEKANDAN (PALAKKAD): Respected Speaker Sir, I wish to raise an important issue of inter-State rail connectivity. The gauge conversion of Palakkad and Pollachi railway route was completed in 2016, involving a sum of Rs.450 crore. Prior to broad-gauge conversion, there were six pairs of trains running between Palakkad and Pollachi. Now only one passenger train and two express trains are running on this route. It was assured that all the trains, which were running earlier, would be restored after the broad-gauge conversion. But nothing has happened so far. It was also assured that new train would be introduced between north Kerala and Konkan areas. This section is very important as it connects many pilgrim places such as Rameswaram, Madurai, Palani, etc. Therefore, I urge upon the hon. Minister to restore all the trains which were running between Palakkad and Pollachi prior to gauge conversion, and also introduce new trains passing through this route at the earliest. Thank you.
