Section 21 in Tamil Nadu Estates (Abolition and Conversion Into Ryotwari) Act, 1948

21. Survey of estates.

(1)Any estate or part thereof may be surveyed or, if it has been surveyed before the notified date, may be resurveyed, as if it were Government land, in accordance with the provisions for the survey of such land contained in the [Tamil Nadu] [Substituted for the word 'Madras' by the Tamil Nadu Adaptation of Laws Order, 1969, as amended by the Tamil Nadu Adaptation of Laws (Second Amendment) Order, 1969.] Survey and Boundaries Act, 1923 ([Tamil Nadu] [Substituted for the word 'Madras' by the Tamil Nadu Adaptation of Laws Order, 1969, as amended by the Tamil Nadu Adaptation of Laws (Second Amendment) Order, 1969.] Act VIII of 1923):Provided that any resurvey made under this sub-section maybe limited to what is necessary for the introduction of the ryotwari settlement in the estate or part thereof.
(2)The cost of the survey or resurvey, except so much thereof as is payable by the ryots or the landholder under the provisions of section 8 of the [Tamil Nadu] [Substituted for the word 'Madras' by the Tamil Nadu Adaptation of Laws Order, 1969, as amended by the Tamil Nadu Adaptation of Laws (Second Amendment) Order, 1969.] Survey and Boundaries Act, 1923 ([Tamil Nadu] [Substituted for the word 'Madras' by the Tamil Nadu Adaptation of Laws Order, 1969, as amended by the Tamil Nadu Adaptation of Laws (Second Amendment) Order, 1969.] Act VIII of 1923), shall be borne by the Government.
