517. Unlocking wards and counting prisoners at day-break.
- When the bell or gong is sounded at day-break, the convict watchman on duty inside the wards shall wake the prisoners and superintend the folding of the bedding. The prisoners each having neatly arranged his bedding on his sleeping berth shall then sit in double file down the centre of the ward. On the arrival of the Deputy Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and Head-warders, the wards shall be opened, the prisoners marched out in pairs, searched, counted and their numbers checked with the entries in the lock-up register
