57. General powers of the corporation.
(1)Subject to the provisions of this Act, the rules, the regulations and the bye-laws made thereunder, the municipal government of the city shall vest in the corporation.(2)Without prejudice to the generality of the provisions of sub-section (1), it shall be the duty of the corporation to exercise such powers, perform such functions and discharge such duties as are conferred on it by and under this Act and consider all periodical statements relating to the receipts and disbursements, and all progress reports and pass such resolutions thereon, as it thinks fit.
