Section 2(ix) in Gauhati University Travelling Allowance Rules, 1966
(ix)'Day' means a calendar day beginning and ending at mid-night; but absence from headquarters which does not exceed twenty-four hours shall be reckoned for the purpose of daily allowance as one day at whatever hours the absence begins or ends.
