Section 451(a) in Police Regulations, Bengal , 1943
(a)If, on the return of the search slip from the Finger Print Bureau, it is found that previous convictions have been traced against the accused, the investigating officer shall be immediately informed and the Court officer shall take steps, where necessary, to prove the previous convictions under section 511 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
