Date : 15-09-2020 Heard Mr. Vipin Kumar, learned counsel for the petitioner.

It appears that the petitioner's son had died in a tragic road accident which took place in a public road. As per the Government scheme in vogue, the petitioner is entitled to receive ex-gratia compensation of Rs. 2 lakhs. However, since the prayer of the petitioner for such ex-gratia compensation has not been acted upon by the respondents, the present writ petition has been filed praying for a writ of mandamus.

Issue notice of motion returnable in six weeks.

Mr. R. Borpujari, learned Standing Counsel, Revenue Department, Assam has entered appearance and accepted notice on behalf of the respondent nos. 1 and 2 whereas Ms. M. Bhattacharjee, learned Government Advocate, Assam, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent nos. 3, 4 and 5. As such, no formal notice is required to be sent in this case. However, extra copies of the writ petition, requisite in numbers, be furnished to the learned Standing Counsel(s) within three days from today so as to enable them to obtain instruction in the matter, facilitating disposal of the writ petition at the stage of admission.

List accordingly.
