- Subject to the provisions of this Act, the rules and the Statutes, Academic Council shall, in addition to all other powers vested in it, have the following powers, namely:-(i)to exercise general supervision over the academic policies of the University and to give directions regarding methods of instruction, evaluation of research or improvement in academic standards;(ii)to bring about inter-faculty co-ordination, and to establish or appoint committees or boards, for taking up projects on an inter-faculty basis;(iii)to consider matters of general academic interest either at its own initiative or referred to in the Faculty Councils, and to take appropriate action thereon; and(iv)to suggest framing of such Regulations consistent with the provisions of this Act, the rules, the Statutes, the Regulations and the Ordinances regarding the academic functioning of the University, discipline, residence, admissions, award of fellowships and studentships, fee concessions, corporate life and attendance.
