Section 38I in The Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972
38I. Acquisition of animals by a zoo. -
(1)Subject to the other provisions of this Act, no zoo shall acquire, sell or transfer any wild animal or captive animal specified in Schedules I [***] except with the previous permission of the Authority.(2)No zoo shall acquire, sell or transfer any wild or captive animal except from or to a recognised zoo.[Provided that nothing in this sub-section shall apply to a conservation breeding centre.]
