Section 46(2) in The West Bengal Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989
(2)A conductor of a stage carriage shall, on demand by any police officer in uniform not below the rank of a Sub-inspector or any officer of Motor Vehicles Department not below the rank of Motor Vehicles inspector in uniform or any member of the State Transport Authority or a Regional Transport Authority, within his respective jurisdiction, produce his conductor's licence for inspection provided that, if at the time his licence is demanded, he is displaying the badge prescribed in rule 42, it shall be sufficient compliance with this sub-rule if he produces the conductor's licence within forty-eight hours at any police-station which he specifies to the person making such demand.
