Seventeenth Loksabha > Title: Regarding establishing National Investment and Manufacturing Zones in Karnataka- laid DR. UMESH G. JADHAV (GULBARGA): The Ministry of Commerce & Industry had given in principle approval in 2013 for the establishment of National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) at Kalaburagi, Bidar and Tumkur in Karnataka. The Government of Karnataka has undertaken a Techno-Economic Feasibility survey of the project for Kalaburagi and the survey conducted by ILFS has favourably recommended the same. The project at a cost of Rs. 25000 crores on an area of 12500 acres will go a long way in industrialisation of the region and generate employment opportunities to the youth of the region is aimed at removal of poverty of the region and also removal of regional imbalance as recommended by Dr. Nanjundappa Committee appointed by the State Govt. This will help the overall development of Hyderabad-Karnataka Region which has been accorded special status of 371J. Therefore, I would like to urge the Hon’ble Minister to provide budgetary allocation for the establishment of National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ).
