SHRIMATI V. SATHYABAMA (TIRUPPUR): Thank you, Madam. Tiruppur is the knitwear Capital of our country and generates employment opportunities for six million people and huge revenue to Indian exchequer. Despite being the top revenue earning centre, Tiruppur does not get its dues as far as the railway facilities are concerned. More than 30,000 passengers travel to and fro Tiruppur every day but the railway station has just two platforms. Passenger trains from other destinations like Palakkad, Coimbatore and Trichy are already over-crowded and large number of passengers at Tiruppur station finding it very difficult to board the train particularly elderly persons, women and children.
It is the long-pending demand of the people of my Tiruppur constituency for the introduction of a shuttle train service between Tiruppur and Salem via Erode so that millions of rail commuters will be benefited. There is also an urgent demand for the change of starting time of Train No. 22615 Tirupati-Coimbatore Express from the existing 1450 hours to 1315 hours so that it can reach Tiruppur and Coimbatore stations little early.
I therefore urge the Government to introduce a shuttle train service from Tiruppur to Salem and to change the starting time of the train No. 22615 Tirupati-Coimbatore Express from the existing 1450 hours to 1315 hours.
