Section 24(xiii) in The Statutes of the Punjabi University
(xiii)A teacher before availing of study leave shall give an undertaking that he shall serve the University for a continuous period equal to double the period of study leave with a minimum of one year and a maximum of five years, to be calculated from the date of his resuming duty after expiry of the study leave.
