SHRI G. HARI (ARAKKONAM): Hon. Deputy-Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me this opportunity. Sholinghur is an important town in my Parliamentary Constituency. It is also a very important pilgrim centre. Every day thousands of people including senior citizens, office goers, business people, students and common public travel to and fro to many destinations through the train passing through Sholinghur railway station. They are suffering a lot as most of the Express Trains do not stop at Sholinghur station, particularly the trains like the Brindavan Express, the Alleppy Express, the Palani Express and the Mangalore Mail.
Sir, if these trains are stopped at Sholinghur it will increase the passenger population and also the revenue to the Railways. Otherwise the rail passengers have to travel two hours to reach the nearby Wallajah Railway station which is giving trouble to the passengers particularly the elderly and women.
Therefore, I urge upon the Union Government to take all possible steps for stoppage of Express trains at Sholinghur railway station.
