Section 59(1) in The Maharashtra Cooperative Societies Rules, 1961
(1)Within three months from the date of registration of a society, the Chief Promoter thereof, shall convene the first [general body meeting] [Substituted 'general meeting' by Notification No. CSL-2014/697/C.R.04/13C, dated 30.8.2014 (w.e.f. 23.12.1961).] of all persons who had joined in the application for registration of the society. Where the Chief Promoter fails to convene the meeting as aforesaid, it shall be convened by any person authorised in that behalf by the Registrar.
