- The Judge shall, save as otherwise provided in these rules follow the procedure prescribed having regard to the nature of the suit. Summary procedure shall be followed for summary suits and regular procedure for other suits, provided that in regular suits the following procedure shall be followed :- Within 10 days of the service of the writ of summons or such longer period as the Judge may direct on the application of the plaintiff in that behalf, the plaintiff shall take out a summons for directions, and the Judge shall give such directions, as he may think proper, as to filing the written statement, set off or counter-claim, if any, or points of defence, discovery, inspection examination of witnesses in Court or in Chambers, taking of evidence by affidavit or otherwise and generally for the speedy determination of the suit.
