Section 3(29)(b) in Malabar Tenancy Act, 1929

(b)"Cultivating Verumpattamdar" in respect of a holding means any verumpattamdar who, not being a janmi, intermediary or customary verumpat-tamdar of that holding has, expressly or impliedly, contracted to cultivate the lands in that holding, and actually cultivates the same;
