Section 80(19) in Securities and Exchange Board of India (Employees' Service) Regulations, 2001
(19)If the employee does not submit the written statement of defence referred to in sub-regulation (3) on or before the date specified for the purpose or does not appear in person, or through the assisting officer or otherwise fails or refuses to comply with any of the provisions of these regulations, the Inquiry Officer may hold the inquiry ex-parte.
