Section 4(2) in The Andhra Pradesh (Telangana Area) District Police Act, 1329 F
(2)The police administration with the local jurisdiction of the Collector of a District shall, under the general supervision and direction of such Collector of a District, be vested in the District Superintendent and the Assistant District Superintendents appointed by the Government.
