Section 12(1) in The Punjab Land Reforms Act, 1972
(1)Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in any law, custom, usage, contract or agreement, from and after the commencement of this Act, no person, whether as landowner or tenant, shall acquire or possess by transfer, exchange, lease, agreement or settlement any land, which with or without the land already owned, or held by him, in the aggregate, exceeds the permissible area:Provided that nothing in this section shall apply to land held by a co-operative society if the land owned or held by an individual member of the society, together with his share in the land held by such a society does not exceeds the permissible area.
