57. Role of police.
- The authorities empowered to take action under rule 54 and rule 60 may request in writing for the help of the police and the police authorities shall render such assistance, as may be necessary, to enable the officer or official to exercise the powers conferred on them by these rules to stop illegal mining and the illegal movement of minerals. In case of theft of mineral, First Information Report shall be lodged in the respective police station under relevant section of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.
