ORDER
1. The appellant Shri Rakesh Rungata, submitted RTI application dated 28.04.2014 before the Central Public Information Officer (CPIO), United India Insurance Co. Ltd. (UIICL), Ahmedabad seeking information in respect of fire claim details of all the branches/divisions office and/or extension counters paid without FSL report for the last five years; certified copy of list of requirements and/or documents for settlement of fire claim; and details of fire basic perils covered under STFI policy with its specific exclusions.
2. The CPIO vide letter dated 20.05.2014 denied information on point 1 by invoking the provisions of Section 7(9) of the RTI Act; on point 2 the CPIO requested the appellant to send Rs. 2/- towards photocopy charges consisting of one page; on point 3 the appellant was informed that there was no such STFI Policy, however, they have the Standard Fire and Special Perils Policy, which consists of 7 pages and advised him to remit Rs. 14/- towards photocopying charges. Dissatisfied with the reply of the CPIO on point 1, the appellant filed an appeal on 03.07.2014 before the CIC/MP/A/2014/001621 1 first appellate authority (FAA). The FAA vide order dated 09.07.2014 informed the appellant that he had requested to provide last five years fire claim details of all the branch/divisions, office and /or extension counters paid without FSL report. This information was voluminous, collecting and collating the information would disproportionately divert the resources of the public authority.
3. Thereafter the appellant filed the present appeal before the Commission.
4. The matter was heard by the Commission. The appellant stated that his fire claim was rejected by the respondents. He sought to know how many claims were settled without FSL report. He stated that the respondents rejected his claim on the grounds that FSL report was not there and in this connection he approached the Police Department too, but they did not entertain him. The respondents stated that they do not maintain such type of data in material form.
5. The Commission accepts the submissions of the respondents and holds that the appellant had been adequately replied to by the respondents within stipulated period. The appellant may like to approach the appropriate forum for redressal of his grievance, if any. The appeal is disposed of.
