FACTS :
The matter is called for hearing today dated 19.11.2010 through video conferencing. Appellant present at NIC, Chennai. The public authority is represented by Shri Sandeep Rajesinkhe at NIC, Mumbai.
2. The parties are heard. It is the submission of the appellant that the holder of PAN Card No AHHPA4984D is one Ayyappan alias Wardha Pillai @ Wardha Pillai Ayyappan and that he has committed fraud by way of having two PAN Cards issued for the purpose of defrauding the Government. Shri Rajesirkhe submits that he has checked up the records and finds that two PAN Cards have been issued to two individuals who have similar sounding names.
3. The real question is whether the public authority has issued two PAN Cards to one and the same individual. This can best be investigated by the public authority itself by way of comparing personal details given by PAN Card holders in the two sets of documents submitted by them. Even their photographs could be compared.
4. In the premises, we direct Shri S Rajesirkhe to cause of inquiry into the matter and to inform the Commission and the appellant whether the two PAN Cards have been issued to one and the same some person or otherwise.
5. The matter will now come up for hearing on 3.1.2011 at 1030 hrs through video conferencing. Shri Rajesirkhe will intimate the outcome of his investigation on the aforesaid date.
