42. Statutes.
- Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Statutes of the University may provide for any matter connected with the affairs of the University and shall in particular, provide for the following, namely:-(1)constitution, powers and duties of the Authorities;(2)creation, composition and functions of other bodies or committees, necessary or desirable for improving the academic life of the University;(3)designations, powers, functions, duties, manner of appointment and selections and terms and conditions of service of the officers other than Vice-Chancellor;(4)classification, qualification and manner of appointment, terms and conditions of services and duties of teachers and non-teaching staff of the University;(5)terms and conditions of service of the Vice-Chancellor;(6)establishment, amalgamation, sub-divisions or abolition of Faculties, divisions, department, research stations, extension centres or other units of the University;(7)establishment of pension and insurance schemes for the benefit of officers, teachers and other employees of the University and the rules, terms and conditions of such schemes;(8)holding of convocations to confer degrees and diplomas;(9)conferment and withdrawal of honorary degrees and academic distinctions;(10)conditions of service, remunerations and allowances including travelling and daily allowances to be paid to officers, teachers and other persons employed under the University;(11)conditions and mode of appointment and the duties of examining bodies and examiners;(12)procedure and terms and conditions of affiliation and of withdrawal of such affiliation, and terms and conditions of fees for affiliation, to colleges or institutes;(13)management of constituent colleges, centres, divisions, departments, regional stations or other institutes founded or maintained by the University;(14)conducting examination and awarding degrees to students of affiliated colleges as per rules and regulations laid down by the University;(15)constitution of Selection Committee for appointment of staff other than teachers and officers; and(16)all other matters which by this Act are to be provided by the Statutes.
