The Coinage of Ferritic Stainless Steel Coins of Rupees Two, Rupee One and Fifty Paise coined with the theme "Unity in Diversity" Rules, 2005Published vide Notification No. G.S.R. 422(E), dated 23rd June, 2005Ministry of Finance(Department of Economic Affairs)G.S.R. 422(E). - In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 21, read with Section 7 of the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely :-

1. Short title and commencement.

(1)These rules may be called the Coinage of Ferritic Stainless Steel Coins of Rupees Two, Rupee One and Fifty Paise coined with the theme "Unity in Diversity" Rules, 2005.
(2)They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. Definition.

- In these rules, "Act" means the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906).

Standard weight and remedy allowed on coins of certain denominations coined with the theme "Unity in Diversity". The standard weight of the Ferritic Stainless Steel coins of the following denominations, coined under the provisions of Section 6 of the Act and the remedy allowed in making such coins shall be as specified in the Table below :-Table

2 Rupees(Mono-Metallic) 5.62 grams Plus or minus 1% for Chromium that is tosay, Chromium could vary between 16% and 18% and remainder Iron.   Plus or minus 4%, that is to say, theweight could vary from 5.38 grams to 5.82 grams.
1 Rupees(Mono-Metallic) 4.85 grams Plus or minus 1% for Chromium that is tosay, Chromium could vary between 16% and 18% and remainder Iron.   Plus or minus 4%, that is to say, theweight could vary from 5.04 grams to 4.66 grams.
50 Paise(Mono-Metallic) 3.79 grams Plus or minus 1% for Chromium that is tosay, Chromium could vary between 16% and 18% and remainder Iron.   Plus or minus 4%, that is to say, theweight could vary from 3.94 grams to 3.64 grams.
