Section 20 in The Merchant Shipping (Registration of Indian Ships) Rules, 1960
20. Transfer of ships, shares, etc.
(1)When the owner of a ship desires to transfer the ship or a share therein, he shall apply to the Registrar of the ship's port of registry for permission to do so with full particulars of the intended transferee.(2)The Registrar shall, after making such inquiry as he may consider necessary, forward the application, with his recommendation, to the Director General for approval.
