6. Competent Authority.
(1)The Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint any officer not below the rank of District Social Welfare Officer to be the Competent Authority for the purposes of carrying out the provisions of this Act and the rules made thereunder.(2)The Competent Authority shall exercise such powers and perform such functions as may be prescribed.
