Section 2(1) in The Maharashtra Village Panchayats Act, 1959
(1)It extends to the whole of the [State of Maharashtra] [These words were substituted for the words 'State of Bombay' by the Maharashtra Adaptation of Laws (State and Concurrent Subjects) Order, 1960.], except the areas within the limits of a municipal corporation, municipality or cantonment established by or under any law for the time being in force.
