(1)In the event of the occurrence of any vacancy in the office of the Mayor by reason of his death, resignation, removal or otherwise, the Senior Deputy Mayor, or in his absence, Deputy Mayor, shall act as Mayor until the date on which a new Mayor is elected in accordance with the provisions of this Act to fill such vacancy.
