Section 48 in The Calcutta Hackney-Carriage Act, 1919

48. Owners to keep list of fares inside carriage. -

(1)The owner of every hackney-carriage registered under this Act shall cause to be put up, in such manner and in such position as may be directed by the Registering Officer, on the inside of such carriage, a list in such language or languages as the [State Government] [Words substituted by the Government of India (Adaptation of Indian Laws) Order, 1937 and the Adaptation of Laws Order, 1950.] may, by notification, prescribe, showing the amount of fare according to distance and time which may be demanded and taken from the hirer of such carriage.
(2)Every owner who fails to comply with the provisions of this section shall, for every such offence, be liable to a fine not exceeding ten rupees, and, in default of payment of fine to simple imprisonment for a period not exceeding seven days.
