Section 1 in The Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act, 1988
1. Short title, extent and commencement
(1)This Act may be called the 2Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988 (45 of 1988).(2)It extends to the whole of India except the State of Jammu and Kashmir.(3)The provisions of sections 3, 5 and 8 shall come into force at once, and the remaining provisions of this Act shall be deemed to have come into force on the 19th day of May, 1988.
