If U.S. Customs did hold the shipment requiring further information and /or payment of additional fees the shipper and/or the receiver of record would be contacted accordingly. Mr. Dwania advised that he had never received any documents from the U.S. Customs and/or the U.S. Postal Service.
The only parties that could have legally retreved this shipment 5 from U.S. Customs was the shipper and/or the receiver of record. It is our understanding that if the shipment is properly entered into the United States and is not claimed within (30) days, it is then returned to the shipper of record.
During our various conversations with U.S. Customs, we were given to understand that no records were found that stated that the shipment was seized and/or held for any non-compliance or legal reasons. If the shipment was not returned to the shipper as required, we would surmise that it was lost, misplaced and/or stolen from either the U.S.Customs facility(s) or from the U.S. Postal Service subsequent to Customs clearance and prior to being delivered to I.D. Jewels. Additionally, we cannot rule out that if the parcel was sent back to the shipper it may have been lost or stolen in transit during the return journey to India.
With information available it should be understood that we cannot state with any degree of accuracy the exact cause of the non-delivery."
