State of Meghalaya - Subsection

Section 25(1) in Meghalaya Municipal Act, 1973

(1)Every person who is elected or appointed to be a Commissioner of a Board, shall before taking his seat make at a meeting of the Board an oath or affirmation of his allegiance to the Union of India [before a person appointed by the State Government for the purpose] [In Section 25 in sub-section (1) the words 'before a person appointed by the State Government for the purpose' were inserted by the Meghalaya Municipal (Amendment) Act 2000 (Act No. 6 of 2000), published in the Gazette of Meghalaya dated 4th April, 2000.] in the following form, namely:
1, A. B., having been =| electedappointed| a Commissioner of this Board do
swear in the name of God (or solemnly affirm) that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India as by law established, and will faithfully discharge the duty upon which I am about to enter.
