Section 33 in The Assam Reorganisation (Meghalaya) Act, 1969

33. Extent of Legislative power

(1)Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Legislature of Meghalaya has exclusive power to make laws for Meghalaya or any part thereof with respect to any of the matter, enumerated in Part A or Part B of the Second Schedule.Provided that the exclusive power of the Legislative of Meghalaya to make laws in so far as it relates to that part of the area comprised within the municipality of Shillong as immediately before the commencement of the Constitution formed part of Khasi State of Mylliem, shall extend only to ,matters with respect to which the District Council having authority in that area has powers to make laws (in whatever form it may be) immediately before the appointed day in exercise of any of the powers conferred by the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution.
(2)Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Legislature of Meghalaya and the Legislature of the State of Assam also shall have power to make laws for Meghalaya or any part thereof with respect to any of the matters enumerated in Part C of the Second Schedule.Provided that the power of the Legislature of Meghalaya to make any such law shall not extend to the area comprised within the municipality of Shillong which immediately before the commencement of the Constitution formed part of the Khasi State of Mylliem.
