Section 57(1) in Gauhati Municipal Corporation Act, 1971
(1)Every Councillor shall before taking his seat make and subscribe at a meeting of the Corporation an oath or affirmation according to the following form, namely: -"I.A.B. having been elected a Councillor of the Municipal Corporation of the city of Gauhati do swear in the name of God/solemnly affirm that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India as by law established and that I will faithfully discharge the duty upon which I am about to enter."
