Need To Expedite The Implementation Of Nar-Par Girna Project In Maharashtra Of ... on 22 September, 2020
Seventeenth Loksabha pan> Title: Need to expedite the implementation of Nar-Par Girna Project in Maharashtra of inter-linking of rivers.
*SHRI UNMESH BHAIYYASAHEB PATIL (JALGAON) : Hon’ble Speaker Sir, our Hon’ble Ex Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayeeji had decided to complete the Interlinking of River Project. Nar-par Girna Project is a very important project of my constituency in Northern Maharashtra but, it has not been completed for the last 30-32 years. Sir Girna project is the largest project in Northern Maharashtra which has a capacity of 22 TMC and in Nar-par rivers ravine, we have plenty of rainfall every year. Godavari river which originates at Trimbakeshwar and then flows via Nashik, Kopargaon, Telengana State and empty out in Bay of Bengal. The water of Taptee river also flows towards Gujarat. In this way we have sufficient water availability around us, but still we have to face drinking water scarcity.
If we really want to resolve it, this Interlinking of Rivers Project need to be expedited. We should divert the water of Nar-par river towards Girna river and joined to Lower Taptee Project. Interlinking would help to find a permanent solution for scarcity of water in this area.
Thank you.
