State of Uttar Pradesh - Subsection

Section 7(b) in The Uttar Pradesh State Sports University Act, 2021

(b)Academic, curriculum and research related powers and functions:-
(i)to run a Bachelor of Sports person (three year Degree Course) with specialization in one of the Olympic sports, focusing on Athletics, Volleyball, Basketball, Football, Handball, Hockey, Wrestling and Boxing, where the evaluation of the Bachelor's Degree will be based on participation and winning medals in the National and International Sports Competitions;
(ii)to admit sports persons who have proven their sports talent at the district level and ready to join the university and to groom sports persons at an early stage (e.g. age of 12 years onwards) so that they can join the University at a later stage.
(iii)to provide for instruction, coaching, training and research in such branches of knowledge or learning pertaining to the physical education, sports sciences, sports technology and high performance training for all sports and games;
(iv)to conduct innovative experiments in new methods and technologies in the field of sports sciences, technology and management in order to achieve scientific sports training system for all sports and games and international standards of such physical education, sports training and research in sports sciences;
(v)to prescribe courses and curriculum and provide for flexibility in the education system and delivery of methodologies including open, electronic and distance learning;
(vi)to provide fore-publishing, printing, reproduction and publication of research and other work and to organise exhibitions, workshops, seminars, symposia, conferences, competitions;
(vii)to sponsor and undertake research in ail aspects of physical education and sports sciences, sports technology, allied areas and high performance training for all sports and games:
(viii)to admit the students for the courses offered by the University' in the prescribed manner:
(ix)to provide vocational guidance and placement services in field of sports and its allied activities;
(x)to organise and to undertake extramural studies, training and extension services;
(xi)to determine standards of admission to the University, which may include examination, evaluation or any other method of testing.
(xii)to provide training, coaching and other backup to high level sports persons for achieving success in different national and international sports competition:
(xiii)to provide for the preparation of instructional and training materials, including films, cassettes, tapes, video cassettes and other software;
(xiv)to provided for semester system, continuous evaluation and choice-based credit system and to enter into agreement with other Universities and academic institutions for credit transfer and joint degree programmes;
(xv)to ensure active participation of students in all academic activities of the University, including evaluation of teachers.
