(1)Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act or any other law for the time being in force, it shall be lawful for the Gram Panchayat to allow any criminal case to be compounded or to decide any suit within its jurisdiction in accordance with any lawful and valid compromise agreed upon between the parties.(2)The provisions of the Oaths Act, 1969 shall apply to judicial proceedings before a Gram Panchayat.
