10. Refund of rent recovered in contravention of the provisions of the Act and other penalties.
- If any landlord recovers rent from any tenant in contravention of the provisions of sections [8, 8, 9A or 9C] [These figures, letters, and words were substituted for the figures and word '6, 7, 8 or 9' by Bombay 13 of 1956, section 5.] he shall forthwith refund the excess amount recovered to the tenant and shall be liable to pay such compensation to the tenant as may be determined by the Mamlatdar in this behalf and shall also be liable to such penalty as may be prescribed by rules made under this Act.
