SHRI M. CHANDRAKASI (CHIDAMBARAM): Thank you, Madam. Madam, I wish to draw the attention of the Union Government to a certain issues relating to National Highway projects in my constituency.
The award of contract in respect of National Highway No.227 from Chidambaram to Trichy via Kattumannarkoil and National Highway No.45A from Viluppuram to Nagapattinam via Pondicherry and Chidambaram are pending. The former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, hon. Amma, gave special attention to the roadway project in Tamil Nadu. About 90 per cent of land acquisition for National Highway No.227 has been completed and the land acquisition work for National Highway No.45A is on full swing.
So, I request that action may be taken on priority basis for the award of contract in respect of National Highway No.227 and National Highway No.45A, in the current Financial Year 2016-17.
Further, the work on National Highway No.136 from Thanjavur to Perambalur via Ariyalur and the work on Thanjavur – Nagapattinam section of National Highway No.67 remain incomplete for a long time.
I, therefore, request that steps may be taken for speedy completion of these projects.
