57. Interest on arrears. -
(7)An arrear of rent shall bear simple interest at the rate of six and a quarter per centum per annum from the expiration of the Bengali year in which the rent falls due to the date of payment or of the institution of the suit, whichever date is earlier.(2)Nothing in any contract between a landlord and a non-agricultural tenant made before or after the commencement of this Act shall affect the provisions of sub-section (1) relating to interest payable on arrears of rent.
